I attended RomCon in Denver earlier this year. This event was one of the best conventions I’ve been to, both professionally and for fun. This conference was a gathering specifically geared towards authors and readers of different types of Romance. Contemporary, Historical, Urban Fantasy–you name it, there were representatives from all aspects of Romance there.

I finally got my first cover model gig. It's about time, right?
What I liked best about the conference (besides the huge box of books I went home with) was the face-time that I had with authors. I attended intimate chats with Carly Phillips and Lori Foster; I got to sit down and talk to Cindy Gerard about her books at a speed-date an author event; I had brunch with Julia Quinn and Elizabeth Boyle; I talked about Mary Burton about her family and friends back home in Virginia; I attended a Contemporary Romance Tea with Susan Mallery, Carly Phillips and Brenda Novak.
I cannot think of another event where so many great and well-known authors would attend and spend so much one-on-one time with readers, without the drama of the other side of books: the publicity, marketing, cover models, etc. I met some great people, many whom I hope to keep in touch with and (hopefully) will see again next year. I also found many new authors that I hope to bring to this blog in the future.
If you are a fan of Romance, I encourage you to check this event out. I found it was a great way to meet new authors, try some new genres, and to meet other readers who enjoy reading as much as I do.
